    Mr. Howlett is a member in Dickinson Wright's Detroit office. He is the Labor & Employment Practice Leader and has practiced labor and employment law for more than 40 years.

    Mr. Howlett focuses his practice on labor and employment counseling and litigation. He has counseled clients on high-level executive employment contracts and separation agreements; plant closings; significant workforce reductions; investigations; employee discipline; and day-to-day labor and employment issues.

    Mr. Howlett has extensive experience in representing employers in litigation and appellate matters. He has tried jury cases, defending wrongful termination, race discrimination, diability discrimination, sex discrimination, due process and religious discrimination claims. He has defended employers in numerous whistleblower cases. Mr. Howlett has also handled dozens of arbitrations.

    Mr. Howlett has also been lead counsel in more than 30 appeals in state and federal court.

    Mr. Howlett received a BA from Kalamazoo College and a J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan. He is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and a former Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Mr. Howlett was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the State Bar of Michigan's Labor and Employment Law Section in 2018.
