Raymond J. Carey associated of Counsel with Morgan & Jones, PLLC. in January 2024. He has over 30 years of experience wisely and effectively counseling and representing employees, employers, and employer representatives on a national basis concerning employment, human resource, and labor relations issues and matters.
Ray has effectively and successfully represented employees who experienced adverse employment action attributable to employers and their representatives during trials, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and mediations or facilitations which involved claims and causes of action for violations of federal and state statutes and common laws governing employment relationships; for discrimination, interference, retaliation, unequal pay, and work related harassment in violation of civil rights laws; for whistleblowing; for breach of contract; for breach of non-compete, non-solicitation, confidentiality, and other contractual or common law obligations or covenants; for theft of trade secrets and confidential and proprietary information; for wage and hour violations; for failure to pay compensation and provide benefits; and for other federal and state statutory and common law causes of action. He also has effectively and successfully represented employers and their representatives during trials, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and mediations or facilitations pertaining to defense of individual plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action litigation involving the same types of claims and causes of action. - Mr. Carey is admitted to the practice of law in Michigan in all Michigan trial and appellate courts, all federal district courts in Michigan, and numerous federal district courts and Circuit Courts of Appeal throughout the country. Mr. Carey is a longtime member of the State of Michigan Bar, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, American Bar Association (“ABA”), and Federal Bar Association. He continues to serve in leadership and committee roles for each of these organizations. For example, Mr. Carey was President of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association during 2007 and 2008 and a member of its Board of Directors from 2002-2008. He has been a trustee of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Foundation since 2007. Mr. Carey also has served on the Social Justice Committee of the Federal Bar Association in Detroit since 2005. In addition, Mr. Carey was Director, 1987-1988, and has been a member of the Labor, Circuit Court and Civil Rights Sections of the Detroit Bar Association since 1981; was Vice-Chairman, General Practice Section, Labor Law Committee of the ABA in 1985-1988, was a member of the Executive Committee of the ABA Human Rights Committee, Young Lawyers Division in 1985-1986, and has been a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section, General Practice and Litigation Sections, Litigation Section Labor and Employment Committee of the Federal and American Bar Associations since 1981.
