Sam Morgan

Sam Morgan focuses his practice exclusively on labor and employment law. This includes providing advice and counsel to both employee and employer clients throughout Michigan in a variety of matters. Admitted to practice in all state and federal courts and other tribunals in Michigan, Mr. Morgan is also admitted to practice in the Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. He has also received special admission to represent clients in courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration proceedings Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Arkansas, Maryland, Delaware, and Connecticut.

An accomplished trial attorney, Mr. Morgan handles a variety of workplace rights cases for his clients. His experience includes wrongful termination cases in both the private and public (i.e., government employees) sectors, and federal and state-law employment discrimination disputes, including age, gender, race and disability discrimination, and sexual and racial harassment cases. Other cases include breach of employment contract claims (such as those that include equity rights, severance payments, and non-compete agreements), and non-payment of wages and overtime pay claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state law. Outside of the litigation realm, Mr. Morgan also assists clients with severance agreements, often negotiating improvements to severance proposals offered at the time of termination. He also advices and assists employers with workplace management decisions, such as disciplinary action and the implementation of personnel policies and employee manuals, and with responding to government agency workforce investigations and complaints, such as EEOC charges, wage and hour and OSHA (workplace safety) complaints and investigations. Mr. Morgan also has extensive experience in mediation and arbitration.

Mr. Morgan's successful track record and superb ethics have resulted in a great deal of recognition from his colleagues. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law in 1984.
