Matthew L. Norwood

Matthew L. Norwood is a criminal defense attorney in Flint, Michigan. A sole practitioner, Mr. Norwood handles all types of criminal matters including those involving assault, driver’s license restoration, drug crimes, DUI/DWI, expungement, hit-and-run accidents, homicide, juvenile offenses, property seizures, reckless driving, sex crimes, theft, weapons offenses, and white collar crimes. He represents clients in Flint and throughout Michigan.

Mr. Norwood has focused his practice on criminal defense since he began practicing law in 2002 and has represented clients in cases ranging from driver’s license restoration and minor misdemeanors to major felony charges. He has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience that allows him to present the best possible defense on behalf of his clients. He understands the devastating consequences of a criminal accusation or conviction and fights aggressively for those he serves.

Committed to education and involved in his professional community, Mr. Norwood has authored articles on criminal defense topics and lectured for professional organizations. He serves as trustee of Mott Community College and sits on the board of the 100 Club of Genesee, Shiawassee and Lapeer Counties.

Mr. Norwood holds memberships with the Genesee County Bar Association, the Michigan Association of OWI Attorneys, the Michigan Association for Justice, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

Mr. Norwood earned his law degree from Michigan State University College of Law. He holds a license to practice law before all Michigan state courts.
