Emily A. Rysberg

With more than 13 years of experience, attorney Emily A. Rysberg focuses her practice primarily on family law, including divorce, custody and related litigation matters. At the law firm of Thacker Sleight PC, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she concentrates on helping her clients navigate complex matters of high-end divorce and custody. She extends her practice to West Michigan and statewide. 

Ms. Rysberg joined Thacker Sleight PC in 2023 after being a partner at a large, international corporate law firm for many years. She brings the skills and knowledge she gained during this tenure to her current firm, where she can apply those skills and knowledge in a more personalized and cost-effective manner for her clients.

A resolution-oriented attorney who works diligently to achieve the best possible result for her clients and their families, Ms. Rysberg has a reasonable yet firm approach to negotiations. Consequently, she is able to successfully resolve most matters with favorable outcomes for her clients without the expense of trial. She is also well-versed in appellate practice, having successfully argued (and prevailed) on behalf of her clients at the Michigan Court of Appeals on numerous occasions.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in biological psychology, a master’s in science degree from Walden University in psychology and a J.D. from Cooley Law School in Michigan. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Ottawa County Bar Association and the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
