As the founder of ImLaw P.C., located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Susan Im practices immigration law with a focus on business immigration. With decades of experience, she advises businesses, individuals, and families on a wide range of immigration matters, including work visas, investor visas and other temporary visa categories. Her practice also encompasses employment-based and family-based green cards, naturalization and U.S. citizenship, as well as compliance matters such as I-9 audits.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Im has worked closely with corporate clients, entrepreneurs, investors, and individuals to handle the complexities of U.S. immigration law. She and her team of attorneys regularly assist clients in securing H-1B, L-1, TN, E, O-1, R-1, H-2B, and H-3 visas, F-1 student visas, and B-1 business visitor visas, offering strategic guidance tailored to their unique circumstances. Furthermore, she supports employers in maintaining compliance with federal regulations and helps businesses develop effective immigration strategies to support workforce needs.
Ms. Im has been nationally and locally recognized for her service and leadership in the immigration law field. She has served in numerous leadership positions for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), comprised of more than 15,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. Ms. Im has held multiple appointed roles on a national level for AILA, including Chair of the AILA USCIS Case Assistance Committee (formerly the AILA Service Center Operations Committee or SCOPS committee), as well as the elected role of AILA Michigan Chapter Chair. In 2021, she received the Outstanding Volunteer Service award from the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is past President of the Asian Professionals Organization (now the West Michigan Asian American Association), past Immigration Chair of the Michigan Governor's Advisory Council on Asian Pacific American Affairs (ACAPAA), and past board member of In the Image, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals in need of gently used clothing and household goods.
Her contributions to the legal profession have been recognized with an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, the highest honor. Ms. Im has also received the "Best Lawyers" designation from U.S. News & World Report, "Top Lawyers" as voted by lawyers in her community, and "Leading Lawyers" as selected by lawyers in Michigan.
