Cirilo Martinez

Cirilo Martinez combines a robust academic foundation with a deep commitment to community service and professional leadership. At the Law Office of Cirilo Martinez, PLLC, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he represents clients in family law, immigration law, international disputes and criminal defense. 

A graduate of The University of Michigan, Mr. Martinez earned his Juris Doctor at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, where he pursued coursework in International Law, International Commercial Arbitration and International Tax Law. This preparation set the stage for a versatile legal career spanning domestic and cross-border matters.

Mr. Martinez’s dedication to public service was recognized through a Gubernatorial Appointment to the board of directors for the Michigan Home-Based Child Care Council, where he contributed to policy development supporting early childhood providers across the state. In that role, he worked alongside fellow board members to advocate for resources and regulatory reforms aimed at strengthening Michigan’s child care infrastructure.  Mr. Martinez also served as past Chair of the University of Michigan Alumni, Hispanic Alumni Council and Advisory Board to the University of Michigan Alumni Association.

As a past president of the Kalamazoo County Trial Lawyers Association, Mr. Martinez led initiatives that promote judicial fairness and professional development for litigation attorneys in the region. His leadership extended to the Farmworker Legal Service’s as a previous board of director, where he assisted in guiding legal aid efforts for agricultural laborers facing housing, wage and immigration challenges. In addition, he was a founding member of The Imagine Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in higher education by raising scholarship funds and crafting programming for underrepresented minorities in Michigan.

Mr. Martinez holds memberships in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and the Michigan Hispanic Bar Association. Through litigation, negotiation and advocacy, he remains committed to delivering personalized, culturally informed representation that addresses each client’s unique needs.  Mr. Martinez is also licensed to practice in the Federal Court for the Western and Eastern District of Michigan and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
