Arnold E. Reed

Arnold E. Reed is the principal owner at Arnold E. Reed & Associates, P.C., based in Southfield, Michigan, with a distinguished career spanning over three decades. His practice focuses on complex litigation involving personal injury, medical malpractice, birth trauma, wrongful death and police misconduct. 

Earning his J.D. from The University of Iowa College of Law in 1990, Mr. Reed was recognized as the associate editor of the law review. After graduation, he served as a law clerk on the Michigan Supreme Court, initially under the Hon. Dennis W. Archer and subsequently as the chief law clerk to the Hon. Conrad L. Mallett. His background in journalism has led him to author numerous articles, particularly in the area of police discretion and misconduct.

Mr. Reed's career highlights include being named “Lawyer of the Year” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2000 and being recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business magazine as one of Michigan's top businessmen under 40. Additionally, he played a pivotal role as lead trial strategist for Tavis Smiley in a high-profile case against PBS.

In 2018, Mr. Reed was honored as a Leader in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. He is a respected faculty member at Harvard Law School’s Trial Advocacy Workshop, providing guidance to aspiring legal professionals. He has secured numerous multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements, including landmark cases such as a $4.5 million verdict against the City of Detroit for police misconduct.
