As a partner at Lipton Law, Marc E. Lipton serves clients regarding personal injury cases, with a special focus on complex catastrophic and wrongful death cases. He has been lead counsel on a wide variety of cases that have resulted in settlements and verdicts for clients in the Detroit area as well as across Michigan.
Mr. Lipton received bachelor's degrees in government and political science from the University of Michigan in 1987. He earned his Juris Doctor, graduating cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1990.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Lipton joined Lipton Law. In the following decades, he negotiated settlements and won verdicts in some of the state's largest personal injury and wrongful death cases. Recently, he and the firm have had success litigating cases involving the failure to timely recognize and treat stroke victims, with multiple settlements in the $5-10M range. Other cases include a wrongful death electrocution case settled for $4,000,000, an unnecessary surgical procedure settled for $1,250,000, a trucking accident case settled for $5,625,000, and a class action settlement regarding medical contamination settled for $10,500,000 and numerous cases that have gone to trial.
Mr. Lipton is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. He is also a member of the Michigan Association for Justice and served as executive committee member and president from 2012 to 2013. In addition, he is a member of the American Association for Justice and served as a state delegate in 2007. He is a frequent lecturer on topics such as Michigan’s Auto and Medical Malpractice Law as well as Trial Advocacy and Litigation Techniques. Well-respected by his peers, Mr. Lipton holds a 10.0 "Superb" rating through Avvo and has been rated AV Preeminent* through Martindale-Hubbell.
