With over three decades of experience in the legal profession, Joseph E. Quandt serves clients from Kuhn Rogers PLC in Traverse City, Michigan. Prior to starting his private practice, Mr. Quandt served as an enforcement specialist at the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, managing escalated environmental enforcement actions, overseeing pollution investigations and coordinating with state and federal legal teams. For the past decade, he has worked as a regulatory and litigation counsel to numerous business entities, including several Fortune 500 companies. He currently works as statewide environmental counsel for one of the biggest insurance companies in the U.S. and as general counsel for two statewide trade associations.

Before enrolling at Cooley Law School to pursue his law degree, Mr. Quandt completed his undergraduate studies at Oakland University. During law school, he interned at the Michigan Department of Environment, gaining deeper insight into environmental compliance. He received his Juris Doctor in 1993 and in the following year, was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan. He acquired comprehensive knowledge in environmental law during his early career in regulatory and litigation defense. Additionally, he is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.

In the legal community, Mr. Quandt stays active through memberships with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s Energy and Environment Committee, the Michigan Concrete Association and the Michigan Oil and Gas Association. Recently, he was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan’s ADR/VFM Advisory Committee to recommend and establish policies regarding Alternate Dispute Resolution and Voluntary Facilitative Mediation.
