Blair W. Nelson

Blair W. Nelson is a criminal defense attorney in Bemidji, Minnesota, with over 25 years of legal experience. Mr. Nelson is the founder of his own law office, Blair W. Nelson, Ltd., and provides strong and committed representation to clients in Bemidji, as well as the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and Minnesota statewide. He has been certified as a specialist in criminal law by the Minnesota State Bar Association.

Mr. Nelson has experience with many issues under criminal law, including gun laws and gun rights. Over his career, he has tried actions involving issues such as assault, domestic violence, drugs, DUI/DWI, fraud, gun laws, sexual crimes, theft and violent crimes. 

Passionate about protecting his clients’ rights, Mr. Nelson provides dedicated representation through each phase of the criminal process. He knows a criminal charge or conviction can have devastating consequences and works hard to obtain the best possible results for each client.

In addition to defending clients in state and federal court, Mr. Nelson handles many Native American cases. In the past, he has been involved with the White Earth Nation Tribal Court and Leech Lake Reservation Criminal and Juvenile Defense Corporation. He is a current attorney with the Office of the Federal Defender Criminal Justice Act Panel in Minnesota.

After completing his bachelor’s degree, Mr. Nelson earned his law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law. He is licensed to practice law before all Minnesota and North Dakota state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
