Jeffrey D. Schiek

Owner and partner at Villaume & Schiek in Bloomington, Minnesota, Jeffrey D. Schiek focuses his practice on representing employees in employment law matters, including employee rights, teachers’ rights, professional license defense and appeals for employment-related misconduct. His knowledge includes cases of discrimination, harassment and abuse, along with criminal defense for white collar crimes, drunk driving and helping people clear their criminal records after a conviction.

An advocate for victims of workplace abuse and harassment, Mr. Schiek has authored and contributed to brochures and articles for workshops nationwide. He regularly lectures on criminal law and procedure, diversity in education and community and workplace inclusion, in addition to presenting on preventing workplace violence and harassment. His participation as a speaker in continuing legal education (CLE) programs reflects his commitment to professional development.

Admitted to practice in Minnesota in 2001 and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota in 2003, Mr. Schiek is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He earned his Juris Doctor with recognition on both the national dean’s list and dean’s list from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2000. Prior to that, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and public administration from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 1997, where he was a dean’s list student and participated in the Mock Trial and Pre-Law Club.

Mr. Schiek launched his legal career in 1999 as a law clerk at Philip G. Villaume & Associates, now Villaume & Schiek, and was hired as an attorney the following year. Since becoming a partner in 2000, he has advocated for professionals and organizations in employment-related disputes. He also provides pro bono legal assistance to Minnesota’s Amish community. He has also argued cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.
