John Fossum

John Fossum is a formidable force in the legal field and an assertive trial attorney known for his remarkable track record of success. From his law firm Fossum Law Office, LLC, in Bloomington, Minnesota, he takes on all sorts of criminal defense and white collar cases, employment litigation, business law and civil rights matters. He is board-certified in criminal law by the Minnesota State Bar Association.

At Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Mr. Fossum completed his B.A. in speech communications with a minor in journalism in 1987. Mr. Fossum has experience lecturing on criminal law, ethics and corporate law both virtually and in person. He worked for Afghanistan's Justice Sector Support Program as an adviser on criminal justice from 2007 to 2008. Police and prosecutors in Afghanistan received training in constitutional law, criminal procedure and Afghan criminal law. He served as the elected Rice County Attorney from 2015-2022.
