    Attorney Profile

Jason C. Brown is a founding shareholder with the Brown Law Offices, P.A., a northwest Twin Cities divorce and family law firm. He has represented a wide variety of clients over the last 19 years, including teachers, homemakers, union construction workers, doctors, truck drivers, accountants, business owners, engineers, mortgage brokers and Fortune 500 executives. All are treated with dignity and respect.

Many of Jason's cases have involved custody disputes, alimony claims, and high net worth individuals, including several divorces in which the value of the marital estate exceeded ten million dollars. He has successfully tried cases throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

In addition to divorce-related matters, Jason routinely drafts prenuptial agreements and handles domestic abuse and adoption cases. He recently represented four grandparents in Minnesota's first "quad-parent" adoption.

Jason is the former chairperson of the Family Law Section of the Minnesota Trial Lawyer’s Association, and taught divorce and family law coursework within the paralegal program at North Hennepin Community College. He is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars, including the annual Minnesota Family Law Institute – for which he has also served on the planning committee.

Jason publishes the Minnesota Family Law Blog, which has been recognized as a “Top 25″ by the Minnesota State Bar Association, and writes a monthly family law column for the Minnesota Lawyer newspaper.

Local media appearances by Jason include the Star Tribune, WCCO Radio, KARE 11 Television, Fox 9 Television and WCCO Television. His national media appearances include NBC News, Time Magazine, USA Today and the Huffington Post.

Jason is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and regularly serves as a mediator and court-appointed early neutral evaluator in family court cases.

Jason obtained his B.S., magna cum laude, from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and his J.D., cum laude, from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. After graduation, he served as law clerk the Honorable Timothy R. Bloomquist, retired Chief Judge of Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District.

Outside of the office, Jason plays the bass guitar and serves on the Board of Directors at Northgate Church. He and his wife, Cynthia, also an attorney, have two teenage boys.
