Mr. Kins helps clients face a wide range of issues in criminal law, including assault, battery, criminal domestic violence, drug and alcohol violations, DUI/DWI, expungement, false accusations, juvenile justice, motor vehicle offenses, restraining orders, theft and traffic violations, and more. He is familiar with all steps of the criminal process including arrest, arraignment and probation in felony and misdemeanor cases.
In addition to criminal law, Mr. Kins represents federal workers injured on the job and provides estate planning and probate administration services. He is committed to fighting for his clients’ rights and making sure their needs are met.

Mr. Kins volunteers his time through Criminal Defense Services, Incorporated, as a misdemeanor and felony panel attorney to underserved populations. He is also a volunteer attorney for Legal Assistance of Dakota County, Ltd. and a volunteer mentor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Mr. Kins was recently unanimously approved by the Dakota County Board of Commissioners for a second term on the Dakota County Personnel Board of Appeals through 2025 in a position which addresses employment disputes within the county.
Mr. Kins earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota and received his law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He holds licenses to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
