Greg Johnson is the founder of G Johnson Law PLLC, a Minnesota law firm devoted exclusively to insurance coverage analysis, insurance coverage litigation, appellate advocacy, and the recovery of insurance policy benefits. For more than thirty-five years, Greg has represented policyholders, injured accident victims, businesses, and other clients in complex insurance coverage disputes involving commercial and personal automobile policies, garage liability policies, trucking and transportation policies, transportation network company coverages, commercial general liability policies, homeowners policies, professional liability policies, directors and officers liability policies, umbrella and excess liability policies, and other specialized insurance coverages.
Greg has been AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubbell—the organization's highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards—since 1996, a distinction he has maintained for 30 consecutive years. He has also been selected as a Minnesota Super Lawyer on multiple occasions.
Insurance Coverage Practice
Greg's practice is devoted to the analysis, litigation, and resolution of complex insurance coverage disputes. He assists clients at every stage of a coverage dispute, including insurance policy analysis, coverage opinions, responses to reservation of rights and coverage denial letters, declaratory judgment actions, breach of contract litigation, bad faith claims, dispositive motions, trials, appeals, and the recovery of insurance policy benefits.
His experience includes insurance coverage disputes arising under commercial and personal automobile policies, garage liability policies, trucking and transportation policies, transportation network company coverages, commercial general liability policies, homeowners policies, professional liability policies, directors and officers liability policies, umbrella and excess liability policies, statutory errors and omissions coverages, and numerous other specialized insurance products.
In addition to representing clients directly, Greg regularly serves as consulting counsel and co-counsel in significant insurance coverage litigation, assisting trial counsel with insurance coverage analysis, litigation strategy, dispositive motions, appellate briefing, and complex legal issues arising throughout litigation.
Before entering private practice, Greg also drafted insurance policies, manuscript endorsements, rental agreements for national vehicle rental companies, commercial transportation agreements, dealership financing documents, consumer credit agreements, and other insurance-related contracts. That drafting experience provides a practical understanding of how insurance policies and commercial agreements are developed and continues to inform his approach to insurance policy interpretation and contractual risk allocation.
Greg has briefed and argued numerous appeals before the Minnesota Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. His appellate practice focuses primarily on insurance coverage, statutory interpretation, contract interpretation, and other complex legal issues arising in insurance litigation.
His appellate work emphasizes careful statutory construction, insurance policy interpretation, preservation of legal issues, and the development of persuasive legal arguments grounded in the language of governing statutes, insurance policies, and controlling appellate decisions.
