Aaron focuses his litigation practice on professional liability, insurance coverage, and complex general liability matters. For more than a decade, he has been a litigator with first-chair jury trial experience. Aaron has significant experience handling all facets of civil litigation in both state court and federal court, as well as appeals in Minnesota State Courts and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In his professional liability practice, Aaron’s clients trust him to provide strategic, efficient, and cost-effective results. He regularly counsels and represents insurance companies, insurance agents, directors and officers, lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, bankers, property management companies, homeowners’ associations, real estate agents, and other various professionals.

In his insurance coverage practice, Aaron works closely with claims representatives and managers at leading insurance companies, representing them on coverage issues including, commercial tort liability, complex general liability, construction defect litigation, cyber liability, director and officer liability, employment litigation, liquor/dram shop liability, premises liability, products liability, sexual harassment/sexual abuse litigation and subrogation litigation.

Aaron is active within the insurance industry on multiple levels and he continually monitors changes and new developments in insurance coverage litigation. He shares this knowledge through training and writing about how professionals may prevent claims; speaking about developments in key insurance industry issues; and working with state and national trade organizations. Aaron serves as Steering Committee Co-chair for the North Central Chapter of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). He is also a Certified Insurance Agent Continuing Education Instructor for the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association and an approved insurance agency auditor.

Aaron also handles various transactional matters, such as legal entity formation and contract drafting, for insurance agencies and other small business owners.

Aaron was an Imagery Analyst in the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1997 to 2003. He is a Lifetime Member of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association and an alumni of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity.

Outside of the office Aaron enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.

Pro bono/Community Service

  • On July 7, 2020, Aaron Simon had the honor of presenting a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) on behalf of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), whose members raised $6,000 for the charity through the PLUS Foundation. Aaron serves as Co-chair of the North Central Chapter of PLUS which chose RMHC-UM as their 2020 chapter charity. Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest in partnership with the community, provides a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports families during a child’s serious illness. Each year, RMHC-UM serves over 6,600 families at four Twin Cities locations. PLUS membership consists of over 7,000 individuals, representing over 1,000 companies active in the many fields of professional liability. PLUS currently receives the support of more than 180 companies through corporate membership. The PLUS Foundation adopted a unique grass roots philanthropic strategy – members choose, members give, members engage. Through Chapter Charity initiatives the Foundation supports the efforts of PLUS Chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Since 2007 $985,500 in grants have been made to more than 300 charities and 2,315 PLUS members have volunteered at 158 events across the U.S. and Canada., 2020
  • In October of 2019 Aaron Simon teamed up with Second Harvest Heartland in Brooklyn Park to package produce for distribution to local food shelves, pantries, and other meal programs in the area. Second Harvest Heartland is one of the nation’s largest and most effective hunger relief organizations with food banks and farming partnerships across the Midwest. To complete their mission, Second Harvest relies mostly on volunteers to package produce received from local farmers for distribution. In just over two hours, Aaron and and other volunteers packaged over 3,914 pounds of onions and 860 pounds of potatoes! Enough for 3,978 meals for people in need!, 2019
  • On November 15, 2018 (a.k.a “Give to the Max Day”), Aaron Simon had the pleasure of hosting lunch and bingo with Nokomis Healthy Seniors. Nokomis Healthy Seniors is a wonderful organization that provides affordable health and wellness programs, and hosts social events, provides transportation, support groups, fitness classes, and more. The House of Charity is a great organization that focuses on getting people back on their feet and back into an independent lifestyle.   • Aaron Simon partnered with Open Arms of Minnesota on Monday, April 29, 2019, in delivering meals around the Twin Cities. Open Arms of Minnesota is a nonprofit, local organization whose mission is to provide people living with life-threatening illnesses, such as HIV/Aids, cancer, and COPD, with free, nutritious meals. Open Arms relies on a vast network of volunteers to help cook, prepare, and deliver these meals to people with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities. They not only provide their clients with free meals, but also provide meals for their caregiver, dependents, or partners. Today, Open Arms serves around 1,000 people in our community., 2019
  • On Thursday, November 9, 2017, Attorney Aaron Simon, as the Steering Committee Chair of the North Central Chapter of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (“PLUS”), presented Urban Boatbuilders with a charitable contribution check from PLUS for $3,500. Urban Boatbuilders is a non-profit youth development program that builds high-quality wooden boats with youth in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.  The program hires youth apprentices who qualify as low-income and/or who have employment barriers.  The youth apprentices work alongside Urban Boatbuilders instructors learning technical boat building skills while earning money.
