Mr. Johnson has been a criminal defense attorney ever since his admission to practice in Minnesota in 2009. He has handled state and federal misdemeanor and felony charges, and his experience in this regard has included representing people who have been accused of such offenses as driving under the influence, white collar crimes, drug possession and distribution, assault, robbery, and homicide. Mr. Johnson has an outstanding track record at the trial level, including having obtained dismissals and acquittals as well as having negotiated favorable plea agreements with the prosecution, and he has seen many of his clients' convictions reversed by appellate courts as well. As a result, he has received the recognition of his colleagues, including a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo. In addition, Mr. Johnson has been named to The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40.

Mr. Johnson has authored numerous articles on various topics related to his practice area, including several that have appeared in Bench & Bar of Minnesota, which is the official publication of the Minnesota State Bar Association. His professional memberships include the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Johnson obtained his Juris Doctor at what was then known as William Mitchell College of Law, and he serves as an adjunct professor at its successor.
