Alan C. Eidsness is a well-respected family law attorney and chair of the family law group at Henson & Efron, P.A., with offices in Minneapolis. Licensed to practice law in Minnesota since 1973, he focuses his practice on all areas of family law as well as trust, estate and tax planning; and commercial matters. Mr. Eidsness is the first and only family law attorney to be elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers, a select group of trial attorneys consisting of less than 1% of each state’s attorneys.

In his profession, Mr. Eidsness is also mediator and a special master.  He is a firm believer that alternative dispute resolution can offer a less contentious and more cost-effective solution. However, when a legal matter requires a trial, he will not hesitate to litigate. He is a zealous advocate for the rights of his clients and upholds their best interests in the courtroom. With over 48 years of experience, he provides sound and knowledgeable advice and counsel to his clients.

He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. In addition to Minnesota state courts, he is licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.  He has also practiced in other states being admitted pro hoc vice.

Actively involved in many legal associations, Mr. Eidsness is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Family and Civil Litigation Sections, the Hennepin County Bar Association’s Family and Civil Litigation Sections, and the American Bar Association’s Family and Civil Litigation Sections. He is also actively affiliated with his community and has been chair of the board of trustees and the moderator of Edina Morningside Community Church.

Additionally, Mr. Eidsness has served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Minnesota and the William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law). He has also testified as an expert witness in several cases and retained as an expert in others.
