Born and raised in Minnesota, Brandon E. Thompson is a partner at Ciresi Conlin LLP in Minneapolis. With a client base that covers the entire state as well as other parts of the Midwest, he focuses his practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, with a particular emphasis on hospital negligence, medication and surgical errors, and other forms of medical malpractice. Admitted to practice before all Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin state courts, Mr. Thompson is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Throughout his career, Mr. Thompson has been successful in negotiating sizable settlements out of court as well as in obtaining favorable jury awards. A federal jury in Minneapolis recently awarded Mr. Thompson's client more than $111 million for his injuries resulting from failure to diagnose and treat compartment syndrome. In another case, a Minnesota jury awarded Mr. Thompson's client $9.1 million. The 51-year-old client was paralyzed from the waist down following surgery where he suffered a prolonged drop in blood pressure after receiving anesthesia, which caused a critical lack of blood flow to his spinal cord. In another case involving a woman who was paralyzed as a result of complications during a back surgical procedure, the jury awarded his client $6.85 million in damages. In another surgical-error case, Mr. Thompson obtained a settlement in excess of $5 million, and in a birth injury case that involved a skull fracture during delivery, he was able to negotiate settlements in the aggregate amount of $4 million against the obstetrician, nurse midwife and other hospital staff members.

Mr. Thompson has received significant recognition from fellow members of the bar for his successes in and out of the courtroom, including being the recipient of one of the Attorneys of the Year awards given annually by Minnesota Lawyer. His legal education came at the University of Minnesota Law School, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor cum laude in 2005. Mr. Thompson's professional affiliations include the Minnesota Association for Justice and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
