Attorney Profile

A principal attorney at Robins Kaplan LLP and the co-chair of the firm's Diversity Committee, Brandon E. Vaughn focuses his practice almost exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, with a heavy emphasis on cases arising out of medical malpractice. In addition, he provides pro bono services to clients in need of immigration or family law advice and counsel but who are unable to afford an attorney. Admitted to practice before all Minnesota and Wisconsin state courts, Mr. Vaughn is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota. He is located in the firm's Minneapolis office.

With a major in English and a minor in political science, Mr. Vaughn attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and he received a Bachelor of Arts in 2005. He then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he participated in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 2008. While in law school, Mr. Vaughn was a summer associate at Robins Kaplan LLP, and he joined the firm full time after his graduation.

Mr. Vaughn has been instrumental in obtaining many high-value settlements and jury awards on behalf of his plaintiff clients. Some of his representative successes have included a $6 million wrongful death settlement for the surviving family members of a young mother who was hit by a distracted motorist while she was riding her bike on a country highway. In another case that involved hospital negligence, Mr. Vaughn obtained a $4.5 million settlement for a newborn who incurred permanent brain damage. His professional affiliations include the Minnesota Association for Justice and the Hennepin County Bar Association.
