The following year, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School.

He holds his license to practice in Minnesota, Illinois and the District of Columbia, and he is admitted to practice before various U.S. District Courts across the nation as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th and Federal Circuits, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
