Erik F. Hansen

As managing partner at Burns & Hansen, PA, Erik F. Hansen litigates construction and civil cases at all levels of state and federal courts throughout Minnesota. The remaining portion of his practice is devoted to appellate cases. Mr. Hansen's practice covers a broad range of interests, including civil appeals, commercial matters, real estate and business litigation.

Mr. Hansen is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, for which he serves on the membership, law and literature, and publication committees. He is a member of the Appellate Practice Section for Minnesota and the Task Force on Law Student Membership of the MBSA. He is licensed to appear before the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, the United States Bankruptcy Court* and the Minnesota Supreme Court. He is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He has been peer reviewed by his peers through Avvo and has been given a "Superb" rating.

Mr. Hansen is a Barrister for the Order of Veritas and the Order of Certus. In 2013, he received the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Award. He is a member of the Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure for the Minnesota Supreme Court. In 2016, Mr. Hansen was named Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer Magazine.

Mr. Hansen attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1997 with honors and distinction. He earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in political science and a minor in European studies. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota Law School, from which he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2000 as a member of the Dean's List.
