F. Clayton Tyler

F. Clayton Tyler is the owner and an attorney at the F. Clayton Tyler Law firm, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He concentrates his practice on criminal defense matters involving drug crimes, white-collar crimes, search and seizure, domestic assaults, DWI, weapons charges, assault, burglary, and aiding and abetting. With more than 43 years of experience in practicing law, he serves clients throughout Minnesota.

Having handled numerous cases throughout his legal career, Mr. Tyler has gained invaluable experience successfully defending those accused or charged with a crime. He is a Minnesota State Bar Association Certified Criminal Law Specialist, an honor only 3% of criminal law attorneys in Minnesota have obtained.  He has obtained numerous not-guilty verdicts and/or dismissals in state and federal courts. With a bachelor’s degree from Augsburg University, Mr. Tyler pursued his master’s in communication at the University of Minnesota. He then attended the University of Minnesota Law School and obtained his Juris Doctor in 1979.

During law school, Mr. Tyler served as a law clerk for a Hennepin County prosecutor and a Minneapolis City attorney for one year each. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8^th Circuit, the Mdewakanton Sioux Community Tribal Court and the Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Court.

Mr. Tyler is actively affiliated with legal associations across Minnesota, including the following:

Additionally, he was a panel attorney at the Hennepin County Public Defender’s office and was the chair of directors of the Minneapolis Urban League.  He was also the chair of the board for Minneapolis public housing.  

He also gives back to the community as founder and executive director of ForeUs, a golf Caddy program for inner city youths.
