Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Newville has secured millions of dollars for clients and won landmark victories before both the Minnesota Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals. Early in his practice, he spearheaded successful fights for marriage equality in two states and established precedent-setting legal protections for vulnerable Minnesotans. Today, he continues to leverage his proven trial record and deep dedication to human rights to deliver suitable results.
An alumnus of the University of Minnesota, Mr. Newville completed his bachelor’s degree in political science before enrolling at the University of Minnesota Law School. He received his Juris Doctor in 2012 and, in the following year, was admitted to practice law in Minnesota. Moreover, he is licensed to appear before the state courts of Wisconsin, the federal courts for Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Colorado and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th and 9th Circuits.
An active member of the community, Mr. Newville serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, as an ethics investigator and as a mediator for employment disputes. For his commitment to his practice and justice, he received the Equality & Justice Award from the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association. Additionally, he has been named in the National Trial Lawyers 40 Under 40 list.
