A talented and knowledgeable family law attorney, Kathryn A. Graves has spent over 37 years helping Minnesota families navigate complex legal issues. From her law firm, Henson & Efron, P.A., in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she provides everyday families with rational and sound legal guidance during stressful times.

Ms. Graves is adept at determining what cases are advantageous for alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation or settlement negotiations, and when a case must be tried in court. As a certified and trained mediator, she has facilitated a number of mediations and arbitrations, helping her clients make it through to the other side in a much more beneficial and positive manner.

A vigilant and dedicated professional, Ms. Graves has handled complex family legal matters involving divorce, child custody and support, domestic abuse and harassment, adoptions, complex marital property valuation and division, third-party custody, spousal maintenance and post-decree modifications.

A 1980 Bachelor of Arts graduate of the University of Minnesota, Ms. Graves received her doctorate in jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1984. She was authorized to practice law in Minnesota in 1985 and is additionally licensed to appear before the Supreme Court of Minnesota and the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

In honor of her achievements, Ms. Graves was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for her work in family law for several years in a row. She holds a “Very Good” rating on Avvo and is a Twin Cities Business 2022 Notable Women in Law honoree.

With a desire to work for those who need help, Ms. Graves serves as a volunteer lawyer at the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, the Volunteer Lawyers Network and the Hennepin County Limited Scope attorney program. For her commitment to pro bono service, she was named to the North Star Lawyers list by the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA).

A fellow and board member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Ms. Graves is a member of the family law sections of MSBA and Hennepin County Bar Association. She has also contributed a number of articles to esteemed journals, and she actively takes part and presents at several conferences and continuing legal education seminars sponsored by the National Business Institute and others.
