Attorney Profile

A partner at Robins Kaplan LLP, Leo F. Feeney has developed a well-deserved reputation as a leading civil trial attorney throughout his long and distinguished career. Based in the firm's main office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he focuses his practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, providing representation to clients throughout the state who have incurred economic and noneconomic losses due to the negligence or recklessness of other persons or entities. Mr. Feeney's successes in and out of the courtroom as well as his superb ethics have earned him the respect of his colleagues, as evidenced by his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America each year since 1995.

Mr. Feeney has handled a wide variety of personal injury and wrongful death cases during his career, and his experience in this regard has encompassed truck and other motor vehicle crashes, premises liability, defective products, and fatal workplace accidents. He has been able to negotiate many favorable settlements on behalf of his clients, and when these matters have progressed to the trial stage, he has obtained numerous sizable jury awards. In one case involving a fatal motor vehicle accident, Mr. Feeney won a $2.5 million jury verdict against a well-known car rental company whose vehicle was being driven by a negligent motorist. In another, he negotiated a settlement slightly under seven figures in a case where a toddler suffered severe injuries after consuming toxic pipeline cleaner.

As an undergraduate, Mr. Feeney attended what was then known as the University of St. Thomas, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1961. His legal education came at the University of Minnesota Law School, and he was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1964. He is admitted to practice before all Minnesota state courts.
