Attorney Max A. Keller is the founder and owner of Keller Law Offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A former prosecutor, Mr. Keller focuses his practice on criminal defense, representing clients in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area who have been accused of drug crimes, DWI/DUI, sex crimes, white-collar crimes and more. He has won DWI jury trials and won the first reversal of a felony DWI conviction in the Minnesota Supreme Court.
After graduating from Carleton College, Mr. Keller earned his law degree from American University Washington College of Law. Following his graduation from law school, he served as a law clerk for three judges in the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where he conducted legal research and drafted opinions for the judges. He is licensed to practice law in both Minnesota and Maryland state courts, as well as in Minnesota federal court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.
Mr. Keller later served in the Office of Minnesota's Attorney General as an assistant attorney general, prosecuting DWI cases across the state and representing state agencies, including the Department of Public Safety, Driver and Vehicle Services Division, and the Office of Pipeline Safety. He then entered private practice in 2003 and began using his skills to defend people accused of crimes.
Mr. Keller has extensive experience in criminal defense and has brought many cases to trial. He has spoken on criminal defense topics at conferences and seminars throughout Minnesota. He has also testified before the Minnesota Legislature and the Minnesota Supreme Court on proposed legislation and proposed rule changes regarding criminal justice issues.
Local and state bar associations that Mr. Keller belongs to include the Hennepin County Bar Association, the Ramsey County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Keller has served as the secretary, treasurer, vice-chair and chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Criminal Law Section and as president and vice president of the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice, an invite-only group of the top 50 criminal defense attorneys in Minnesota.
