Paul Godfread handles cases of trademarks, copyrights, IP litigation and domain name disputes for clients in Minnesota and throughout the country. Working with businesses that are large and small, his focus is on avoiding future litigation and protecting intellectual property. With a background in information technology, he is uniquely qualified to help clients when drafting license agreements.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Olaf College, Mr. Godfread went on to earn a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law. An adjunct faculty member teaching IP Appellate Advocacy at the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, Mr. Godfread is an excellent educator and presenter. He has presented on topics, including cyberbullying, law and social media, and how to stay legal online.

Passionate about giving back to the community, Mr. Godfread offers pro bono assistance to Springboard for the Arts, was a board member for Dayton’s Bluff Community Council and is a volunteer attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the Minnesota Supreme Court.

As he works to build relationships within the legal community and improve his ability to represent the rights of clients, Mr. Godfread participates in many professional organizations. He is a member of the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, the Cyberspace Law Committee of the American Bar Association, the Computer and Technology Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Minnesota Intellectual Property Law Association and the International Trademark Association.
