After graduating from Wesleyan University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts, Mr. Stein attended Georgetown University Law Center. There he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1975. A former investigator and member of the Second Judicial District State Bar Ethics Committee, he is currently an associate member of the Minnesota Bankers Association, the Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota and a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s bankruptcy and commercial law sections.

Mr. Stein is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin and the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. He is also admitted to practice in the state courts of Minnesota.

Working under the Uniform Commercial Code, Mr. Stein has been recognized for almost 20 years as one of the leading attorneys in his field. Since 2012, he has been court-appointed to the United States Bankruptcy Court’s Chair of the Bankruptcy Practice Committee.
