Philip Sieff is a distinguished partner at Robins Kaplan LLP, an award-winning 225 attorney law firm headquartered in Minneapolis. Mr. Sieff focuses his practice on navigating personal injury and wrongful death litigation. With a commitment to delivering robust advocacy, Mr. Sieff represents clients throughout Minnesota and the wider Midwest region who have endured significant economic and non-economic losses due to the negligence of individuals or entities. His legal expertise spans across a diverse range of cases, including high-stakes litigation involving serious car accidents, injuries resulting from defective products, medical malpractice claims, violence in schools, collisions involving drunk drivers, compressed gas dusting abuse, boating accidents, train derailments, construction site mishaps, truck accidents, and airplane crashes.
Mr. Sieff's professional achievements underscore his effectiveness and dedication for his clients. Notable case results include securing a $15.4 million settlement for a client who suffered severe burns in an industrial accident, as well as being on the team that helped obtain a $25 million settlement for the surviving family members affected by an airplane crash that claimed the life of then-Senator Paul Wellstone. His role as lead co-counsel for the I-35W Consortium, a collaborative effort involving 17 law firms providing legal assistance to victims of the 2007 I-35W Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis, further demonstrates his commitment to serving the community in times of crisis. In a groundbreaking case in 2024, Mr. Sieff served as co-lead counsel in a significant legal victory against CRC Industries, securing a landmark $7.75 million verdict. This case marked the first trial of its kind involving aerosol dust remover products and underscored Mr. Sieff's pioneering approach in holding corporations accountable for foreseeable product misuse.
Recognized by peers for his exceptional track record and ethical standards, Mr. Sieff has been consistently named a "Super Lawyer" for over two decades. He has also been featured in Lawdragon's "500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers" list multiple times (2019; 2021-2024) and recognized as one of "The Best Lawyers in America" across numerous editions (2012-2024).
Mr. Sieff's academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Special Studies in politics with distinction from Cornell University in 1982. He subsequently pursued his legal education at what was then known as Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he distinguished himself as a member of the Hamline Law Review and graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor in 1985. Admitted to practice before all Minnesota state courts, Mr. Sieff also holds admission to the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, enabling him to serve a broad spectrum of clients with professionalism and expertise. His multifaceted legal career and unwavering commitment to justice continue to define his reputation as a leader in the legal community.
