    Attorney Sarah Stensland is a partner and member of the litigation and trademark teams at Patterson Thuente Pedersen in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Ms. Stensland's overarching experience makes her adept at counseling clients on all aspects of intellectual property.  She has served as trial counsel for companies in disputes ranging from patent infringement to false advertising, represented clients in trademark oppositions and inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the USPTO, developed strategies for brand protection and IP enforcement for major consumer brands, and negotiated license and settlement agreements. 

    Ms. Stensland is a chemical engineer as well as an attorney. She uses her unique knowledge and experience to provide valuable advice to clients regarding their product technologies. Her clients include individual entrepreneurs, as well as US-based and multinational corporations of all sizes in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical, medical device, automotive, software, and engineered materials companies.  She is committed to providing personalized service and high-quality representation to each client.

    In addition to running her law practice, Ms. Stensland serves in several professional legal organizations, including as co-chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the  Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association Minnesota Chapter and a member of Minnesota Women Lawyers and the Hon. Jimmie V. Reyna IP Inn of Court. She is a volunteer attorney with the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota and belongs to the Legislative Action Committee of the Wayzata Public Schools.

    Ms. Stensland earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Iowa. She graduated magna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law. She holds a license to practice law before all Minnesota state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked for General Mills and Cargill.
