During his time in law school, he was assistant editor of the William Mitchell Law Review and received the Burton Awards. Before attending law school, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and political science from the University of Minnesota. Mr. Cerny is also a mentor for the Mitchell Hamline School of Law’s alumni-mentor program.

A volunteer for the Federal Bar Association’s Pro Se Project, Mr. Cerny has been recognized with publications in the Minneapolis’ StarTribune, the Minnesota Lawyer, the Idaho Business Review and the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. Actively involved in the legal community, he is currently a member of the Ramsey County Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association and the civil litigation and labor and employment law sections of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Mr. Cerny is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota and the Minnesota Supreme Court. Mr. Cerny provides counsel to human resource professionals and business owners on state, local and federal laws to minimize risk.
