Ms. Mortel is a trusted legal adviser catering to clients in Woodbury, St. Paul, Washington County, Ramsey County, Dakota County, Hennepin County, and throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. She was a partner at a St. Paul, Minnesota law firm between 2009 and 2013 before establishing Mortel Law, PLLC. Previously, Ms. Mortel was assistant vice president and head of the Personal Trust Division at Union Bank & Trust in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this role, she was responsible for managing all personal trusts, including testamentary, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and charitable trusts as well as probate estates.
Moreover, Ms. Mortel has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and has taught as an adjunct representation professor at William Mitchell College of Law. In addition to her legal practice, she is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Wisconsin State Bar Association. She also maintains an “Excellent” rating on Avvo.
In terms of education, Ms. Mortel received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, graduating magna cum laude in 1999. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctor cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota in 2002. While at law school, her academic prowess earned her a coveted spot on the dean's list. Furthermore, she was honored with the Founder's Scholarship, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in property and real estate seminar, and was also nominated for the Burton Brief Award. Ms. Mortel was licensed to practice law in Minnesota in 2002 and Wisconsin in 2003.
