Admitted to practice before all Minnesota state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota since 1995,  John's 25+ years of experience provide a strong foundation for legal advice involving Probate/Estates, Trusts, Guardianships, Conservatorships, and Real Estate questions.  A significant portion of John's time in these practice areas involves resolving contested issues, including through litigation.  He frequently appears before probate courts in cases dealing with will contests, breaches by executors and trustees of their fiduciary duties, challenges by heirs and beneficiaries, and proceedings involving the appointment of guardians and conservators.   

John received a Bachelor of Arts decree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, in 1982.  Several years later, he decided to pursue a legal education, and in 1990, enrolled at what was then known as William Mitchell College of Law .  John was awarded a Juris Doctor in 1995, Magna cum laude.

John is a former co-chair of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Ramsey County Bar Association, and currently a member of Minnesota State Bar Association Litigation and Dispute Resolution Committee - Probate Section.  He most recently participated in a panel of Estate Planning attorneys in a Continuing Legal Education presentation to members of the Ramsey County Trusts & Estates section and has shared his legal experiences in other CLE programs including probate litigation and power of attorney questions.  John also serves on the Ramsey County District Court Attorney Panel that provides legal representation to persons that are the subject of guardianship and conservatorship petitions.
