A native of Albany, Minnesota, Ms. Evenson has a genuine concern for the legal issues that affect the residents of her community.  She has gained a reputation for compassion and integrity while devising the most effective strategies possible to help her clients efficiently and affordably achieve their goals and positive results.

A Rule 114 certified family law mediator, she prefers to help her clients resolve their conflicts and reach favorable agreements without the need for expensive and adversarial court battles; however, she will not hesitate to take her clients' issues to court when necessary to help them fight for the successful outcomes they expect and deserve.

After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Morris in 1989, Ms. Evenson earned her Master of Arts in constitutional and legal history from the University of Minnesota in 1992. She then attended the University of Minnesota Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctor cum laude in 1996. She is admitted to practice in Minnesota and North Dakota as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Active in her legal community, Ms. Evenson is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and its Family Law and Small and Solo Firm Sections. She served as a trustee for the Law Help Center in Stearns County for many years.  She is also an active member of the Stearns Benton Bar Association and the John E. Simonett American Inn of Court.  JoAnn served as president of the John E. Simonett American Inn of Court and St. Cloud Area Legal Services. She is a founding member and former president of Central Minnesota Women Lawyers and former chapter liaison for Minnesota Women Lawyers.  She served as first vice president and board member of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and served on the Girl Scouts of Minnesota Wisconsin Lakes and Pines board.  An avid gardener, she is an active University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener in Stearns County and serves in various volunteer leadership capacities with that organization including coordinating an event for hundreds of gardeners, Garden Education Day, in 2022 and 2023 and teaching gardening classes.  Ms. Evenson also enjoys teaching community classes in estate planning.  A former high school teacher, Ms. Evenson is an active member of the board of the Stearns History Museum where her love of history and Central Minnesota come together.
