Attorney Profile

Attorney Jeffrey R. Anderson is the founder and principal of Jeff Anderson & Associates, with offices in Minnesota, New York, and California. Nationally recognized as a leading advocate for child sexual abuse survivors, Mr. Anderson devotes his time and efforts to obtaining justice for those abused by members of the Catholic clergy, the Boy Scouts of America, and other institutions entrusted with the care of children. Throughout the course of his more than 44 years in practice, he has successfully handled thousands of child sexual abuse cases across the country, securing full and proper redress for the most innocent of victims and their families.

In the 1980s, Mr. Anderson was instrumental in uncovering the widespread concealment of criminal acts perpetrated by members of the Catholic clergy and bringing the issue to light in the public eye. From his efforts he has earned numerous awards and honors, including the Frank Carrington Champion of Civil Justice Award, the Warren E. Burger Distinguished Alumni Award and the American Association for Justice's Steven J. Sharp Public Service Award. He has also received designation as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in America, holds an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, and was voted "Attorney of the Year" by Minnesota Lawyer magazine in 2003.

Mr. Anderson has received numerous other accolades from his peers, but his true measure of success comes from instilling in his clients the confidence and courage to come forward with their abuse claims while holding those responsible for their suffering accountable for their actions.

A 1970 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota, Mr. Anderson obtained his Juris Doctor in 1975 from William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law). He holds his license to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania, before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as various U.S. District Courts and U.S. Courts of Appeals throughout the nation.

Mr. Anderson is an active member of various professional legal organizations, including the National Association of Counsel for Children's American Coalition for Abuse Awareness, the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect and many others. He has published extensively and conducted scores of lectures and seminars across the country on a wide range of legal topics involving sexual abuse and misconduct.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
