Partner and CFO of Swor & Gatto, John Paul (J.P.) J. Gatto focuses his practice on plaintiff’s personal injury, product liability, and wrongful death litigation. The firm is located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and he represents clients in the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area and throughout the state.
Mr. Gatto attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he majored in history and economics and received a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in 2004. He then went on to pursue his legal studies at Hamline University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2007.
Prior to joining Swor & Gatto, Mr. Gatto worked for a major firm in St. Paul where he spent more than a decade defending clients in cases involving catastrophic injuries and losses, often times trying cases involving millions of dollars in claimed losses. This experience has allowed him to often anticipate the types of tactics that liability insurance companies and their policyholders will raise against his current plaintiff clients who have been harmed due to the negligence of other parties. The types of matters that he now handles have arisen out of incidents involving truck and other motor vehicle crashes, premises liability, dangerous products, and workplace accidents.
During his career as a plaintiff’s attorney, Mr. Gatto has been able to procure millions of dollars in compensation for his clients; both in and out of court. This successful track record has led to his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and other honors from his colleagues, including being named a Rising Star since 2014.
Mr. Gatto is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
