Justin M. Schiks

The founder of JS Defense P.A., Justin M. Schiks focuses his practice primarily on criminal defense matters. His firm is located in Woodbury, Minnesota, and he represents clients throughout the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area and other parts of the state. In addition to criminal defense, Mr. Schiks has experience in personal injury and wrongful death litigation, and he has been admitted to practice before all Minnesota state courts since 2008.

The majority of Mr. Schiks’s clients are people facing state misdemeanor or felony charges. The types of cases that he has handled have included driving under the influence of alcohol, assault, drug possession and distribution, disorderly conduct, statutory rape and other sex crimes, burglary, domestic violence, manslaughter, murder and juvenile offenses. Throughout his career, Mr. Schiks has been able to obtain positive results for his criminal defense clients, including dismissals, acquittals and the negotiation of favorable plea bargain agreements with the prosecution.

Outside of the criminal defense area, Mr. Schiks has represented clients who have been harmed due to the negligence or recklessness of other persons or entities. He has worked on claims involving motor vehicle crashes, animal attacks and other serious incidents, and his clients have received significant compensation as a result of his skillful presentations at jury trials as well as his handling of settlement negotiations with defendants and their insurance carriers. Born and raised in Minnesota, he is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris, and he obtained his law degree from what was formerly known as William Mitchell College of Law.
