Amorya Orr is an effective and scrupulous attorney at the Jackson, Mississippi, law firm of Cosmich Simmons & Brown, PLLC. Focusing her practice on insurance and tort litigation, mass and toxic torts, premises liability and workers’ compensation, she also serves as local counsel with law firms presiding outside Mississippi, as well as in-house counsel for insight into specific Mississippi laws, statutes and jurisdictions.
The valedictorian of her graduating class, Ms. Orr received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English language and literature from Fisk University in 2011. Shortly after her graduation, she attended the University of Virginia School of Law and obtained her Juris Doctor in 2014.
During her time in law school, Ms. Orr was involved with many organizations such as the Black Law Students Association, the Employment Law Clinic and the Family Mediation Clinic. A meritorious student, she received the Doris Buffett Fellowship and the Equal Justice America Fellowship, and she was awarded the Outstanding First-Year and Second-Year Student Award by the university’s Black Law Students Association.
Ms. Orr completed a plethora of internships that provided her invaluable exposure, including interning at the Tennessee General Assembly, for Representative Joe Towns Jr. and for Judge Winston Kidd, among others. She is licensed to practice across all Mississippi state courts.
Outside her law practice, Ms. Orr keeps active in her legal community with affiliations to organizations such as the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association and Jackson Young Lawyers. Furthermore, she provides educational seminars on the legal professional across college campuses and conferences statewide.
