Kirk C. Stange

Kirk Stange is the founding partner and president of Stange Law Firm, PC. He focuses his legal practice exclusively on family law and represents clients in complex and emotionally sensitive matters involving divorce, child custody and parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, paternity, and related domestic relations issues. Kirk is known for providing clear guidance, candid advice, and steady advocacy throughout every stage of a case. He is trained as a mediator, collaborative attorney, and guardian ad litem, allowing him to approach family law matters with a broad and balanced perspective.

Since founding Stange Law Firm, PC in 2007, Kirk has played a central role in growing the firm into a large, multi-state family law practice that continues to expand. Kirk remains actively involved in firm leadership and professional development while maintaining a strong commitment to family law advocacy at the firm.

Kirk is deeply involved in legal education. He is a frequent continuing legal education speaker for organizations such as The Missouri Bar, myLawCLE, and the National Business Institute, and he has presented to attorneys and judges across the country on a wide range of family law topics. In 2014, he presented at the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference in Omaha, Nebraska, on the use of social media evidence for lawyers and judges. In recognition of his contributions to attorney education, The Missouri Bar honored him in 2017 for his substantial involvement in continuing legal education programs, including repeated presentations for MoBarCLE’s Annual Law Update and other advanced family law seminars. He has also served as a mentor through The Missouri Bar Mentoring Program.

In addition to his speaking engagements, Kirk is active in academic and professional leadership. He is a member of the Law Society at the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Law and serves as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law, where he has taught as a trial instructor in the Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques. He also serves as President of the Missouri Collaborative Institute, a professional organization dedicated to promoting collaborative practice as an alternative dispute resolution option in divorce and family law matters.

Kirk earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Fontbonne University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Law. While in law school, he was selected as one of ten graduates inducted into the Order of the Barristers in recognition of courtroom advocacy skills. On the July 2000 Missouri Bar Examination, he scored in the top ten percent of all examinees. He later completed advanced training through the ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute. Kirk is licensed to practice law in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Kirk’s work has been widely recognized within the legal profession. He has been selected to Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers for Family Law each year since 2015, an honor reserved for no more than five percent of attorneys in each state. He was previously named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2013 and 2014. Kirk has also been included on Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s POWER List for Family Law since 2020, was selected to the Missouri Lawyers Weekly Top 100 Power List in 2025, and received the Missouri Lawyers Weekly Law Firm Leader Award in 2026.

Kirk is also a published legal author. His work includes a chapter in a 2012 Thomson Reuters (Aspatore Publishing) book addressing military family law, the full-length 2014 Thomson Reuters book Prenuptial Agreements Line by Line, and a 2015 Aspatore chapter focused on Illinois family law and alternative dispute resolution. He has also co-authored multiple chapters in Missouri Family Law published by The Missouri Bar, including updates addressing protection orders and child abuse issues in domestic cases.

In 2025, Kirk was recognized as the #2 author on family law in JD Supra’s Readers’ Choice Awards, an honor reserved for a select group of contributors nationwide. He has received this recognition since 2023 and is also a contributor to Entrepreneur Magazine.
