John (Jack) Norton

A partner at Norton & Spencer, P.C., John (Jack) Norton focuses his practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and with his office located there, he provides representation to clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. Admitted to practice in Missouri, Mr. Norton is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit.

Mr. Norton's personal injury cases have included medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, construction site accidents, defective products, premises liability and motor vehicle crashes. He has tried well over 150 cases before juries during his career, and he has been able to earn many verdicts in excess of $1 million as well as sizable negotiated settlements. In one case involving a big rig accident, Mr. Norton obtained a $22 million jury award on behalf of a child who suffered severe brain injuries, which was the largest truck accident verdict in the state for that year. His successes have earned him the respect of his fellow attorneys, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo. Mr. Norton has also been named in The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100.

During his career, Mr. Norton has participated in a variety of legal organizations. He is a former member of the board of governors of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and has held several executive positions with that organization. Mr. Norton's other affiliations have included the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Association for Justice, the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He received his Juris Doctor with distinction in 1978 from what was then known as the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
