Partner at Solomon & Peter LLP, Joshuah Peter handles all levels of criminal defense, everything from DWI and traffic to the most serious state and federal charges for clients in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area. Mr. Peter has an Avvo “Superb” rating and has received several Clients’ Choice Awards from the organization. The Kansas City Business Journal named him Best of the Bar in 2016, and he is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College, where he attended the Trial Practice Institute and earned his certificate. Having practiced for over 15 years, Joshuah has represented and obtained great results for thousands of clients.
Mr. Peter handles matters of traffic citations, misdemeanors and felony criminal defense in both municipal, state, and federal court. A former intern and Missouri State Public Defender for the Kansas City Trial Office, he was also a Trial Team Leader during his 10 years with the office. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Missouri and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
With a major in criminal justice, Mr. Peter received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Missouri in 2002 with a major in criminal justice. He then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 2005, where he focused on criminal defense and was on the Dean’s List. An experienced and engaging lecturer, he has presented to committees within The Missouri Bar, the Kansas City Metroplitan Bar Association, and to the Missouri State Public Defender System.
Mr. Peter has been a counsel member of The Missouri Bar Young Lawyers’ Section and a board member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, takes on conflict cases for Public Defender Trial Office in Kansas City, MO, and takes on cases for our Military Veterans through the Volunteer Attorney Project of Legal Aid of Western Missouri and the Miltary Matters program of KCMBA.

- I successfully argued that the Attorney General had improperly filed the charges against my client, and was in fact precluded from going forward with many of the allegations they had made due to a complicated statute of limitations issues. This outcome prevented the Government from seeking over $1 million dollars in fines and fees against my client., 2019
- A client was facing being revoked from probation for not paying restitution. I was able to show that the restitution should not have been ordered, and was not in fact owed, and therefore it was removed from the court ordered conditions imposed on my client, saving my client over $600,000., 2020
