Scott S. Bethune

A founding partner of the Missouri-based firm Davis, Bethune & Jones in Kansas City, Scott S. Bethune is an attorney known statewide for the reliable services he provides to his clients. Concentrating his trial practice primarily on personal injury issues such as product liability, professional negligence, car wrecks, semi-truck collisions and wrongful death, he also extends his service to farmers and organizations that have been wronged by others. 

While pursuing his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee at Martin, Mr. Bethune aspired to become an FBI agent before he decided to be an attorney and make a difference in people’s lives by helping them at their lowest. He joined the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law to study law and earned his doctorate in jurisprudence in 1988. 

After graduating from law school, Mr. Bethune was first authorized to practice law in Missouri in 1988, then a year later in Kansas and in 1995 in Tennessee. While co-founding and establishing his firm Davis, Bethune & Jones in 2001, his sole mission in mind was to be a pillar of support to his clients during their trying times and offer his highest level of representation while helping them find a resolution. He attributes his success to his innate ability to effectively communicate with his clients, understand their stories and situations and narrate them to judges and juries.

Mr. Bethune’s constant hard work and dedication have earned him numerous professional awards and honors, including being named to The Best Lawyers in America in multiple categories and has been recognized as Best of the Bar by the Kansas City Business Journal. 

Regularly involving himself in charity and volunteer work, Mr. Bethune’s contribution to the legal community of the state does not end with his daily work. He previously served as the president of the American Board of Trial Advocates’ Western Missouri Chapter and as commissioner for the 16th Circuit Judicial Commission.
