Michael L. Taylor

Michael L. Taylor is a partner at the firm Taylor Siemens Elliott Creedy & Lyle P.C. in St. Joseph, Missouri. A trial attorney for over four decades, he has represented clients in jury trials in both state and federal courts. He takes on a wide range of civil law cases, including medical malpractice, product liability, personal injury and wrongful death. He has also handled thousands of family law cases and served as lead counsel in hundreds of bench trials in Missouri and Kansas courts. 

A graduate of The University of Kansas, Mr. Taylor has a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology. He went on to pursue his legal studies at The University of Kansas School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 1982. While in law school, he served as a law clerk at the 29th Judicial District Court of Kansas. 

In addition to being admitted to practice in Missouri and Kansas state and federal courts, Mr. Taylor is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Courts of Appeals for the 10th and 8th Circuits, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He is a civil mediator in Missouri and Kansas and is also a certified family law mediator in Missouri. 

For his noteworthy work, Mr. Taylor has received an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and an Avvo rating of “Superb.” He is included in the list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers and the list of Best Lawyers in America by U.S. News & World Report.

Moreover, Mr. Taylor has won a number of awards and accolades for his work as a family law attorney, including being listed on the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys in Missouri by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys and named to the list of Nation’s Best Lawyers in Kansas City by 435 Kansas City’s Magazine. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1994. Additionally, he has been included in the lists of Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.

Mr. Taylor’s many successful verdicts and settlements for his clients earned him membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He was named to the Top Trial Lawyers in America list by the latter organization.
