Mr. Freed attended Kent State University where he earned a Bachelor of Music in 1974. In 1983, after attending law school at Washington University School of Law, he graduated with a Juris Doctor and immediately began representing those dealing with emotional, highly stressful family law issues. Missouri Lawyers Weekly Readers’ Poll named him the Best Mediation Attorney in 2009, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and The Missouri Bar Family Law Section awarded him the Roger P. Krumm Family Law Award in 2016.

At Washington University School of Law, he was an adjunct professor from 2001 to 2015, teaching courses on mediation, family mediation and negotiation. For 20 years, he has authored a mediation chapter in the family law deskbook for The Missouri Bar Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Freed has also spoken on family law topics for organizations such as The Missouri Bar, the Association for Conflict Resolution, The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Collaborative Family Law Association.

Currently, Mr. Freed is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Association of Missouri Mediators, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
