Jennifer R. Piper is a St. Louis family law attorney with over 25 years of experience exclusively handling family law matters, recognized nationally and locally as one of the region’s premier practitioners. She is consistently named to The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice area of Family Law (2017–2025), to Missouri Super Lawyers (2021–2025), and she holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating — the highest peer-review rating available.
Ms. Piper earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri–Columbia and her J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law. She has been distinguished by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as a Rising Star and Up and Coming Lawyer, and she received the Women’s Justice Award from Missouri Lawyers Weekly in 2019.
Ms. Piper served as Chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis for 2023 and 2024 and currently serves as a member of the Parenting Coordination and Mediation Committee for the St. Louis County Circuit Court. As a Past President of the St. Louis County Bar Association, she remains actively involved in the organization and assists in organizing continuing legal education seminars. She previously served as a member of the inaugural 2010–2011 class of Barristers in The Theodore McMillian American Inn of Court.
Ms. Piper has been appointed to serve on a special committee of the Missouri Bar Association addressing juvenile cases and immigration issues, and on a special committee dedicated to improving the Family Court of St. Louis County, which developed and implemented new local rules and procedures.
Certified as a Guardian Ad Litem, Ms. Piper is regularly appointed by Judges and Commissioners in St. Louis County and St. Louis City to represent and protect children, including volunteer service on the St. Louis County Domestic Violence Court Docket. She is also a certified Mediator for civil and family law matters and a certified Parenting Coordinator, regularly appointed by the Court to assist families navigating the most difficult custody matters. Ms. Piper is committed to guiding families through difficult transitions with clarity, advocacy, and a steadfast focus on the best interests of children.

Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)
- Ms. Piper has successfully argued in front of the Missouri Appellate Court on several occasions and specifically in the reported case of Brown v. Shannahan, 141 S.W.3d 77 (Mo.App. E.D. 2004). In Brown, Ms. Piper argued, and the Court agreed and established a new holding, that the statute governing relocations of parents and minor children did not apply to cases where the court was making an initial determination of paternity and custody., 2004
