Michael W. Shelton

Mike Shelton was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri.  He graduated from Arizona State cum laude in 1992.  Mike graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in 1995.

Upon graduation from law school, Mike worked as an Assistant Circuit Attorney in the City of St. Louis from 1995 through 1998.  While working as a prosecutor in the City of St. Louis, Mike tried fifteen jury trials in a three-year span.  He tried over fifty bench trials in the three-year span and had a term working with the Grand Jury.  Also, Mike began to foster his law enforcement contacts that he maintains today.

After leaving the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s office in 1998, Mike worked at Wuestling & James, a civil defense firm in St. Louis.  While working at the civil defense firm, Mike tried numerous jury trials and was exposed and privy to the insurance defense inter workings and uses that knowledge today to assist his clients.

In 2002, Mike was a founding member of the law firm Onder, Shelton, O’Leary & Peterson, LLC.  Mike’s practice included all aspects of personal injury, including products liability, motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, dog bite injuries, workplace accidents and workers’ compensation injuries.  Mike also assisted in some of the pharmaceutical litigation the firm handled.

In 2017, Mike was a founding member in the law firm O’Leary, Shelton, Corrigan, Peterson, Dalton & Quillin LLC.  Mike continues to work on all aspects of personal injury, focusing on product liability, motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, dog bite cases, workplace accidents and workers’ compensation claims. 

Mike has successfully resolved many cases over the years.  Mike represented the family of a man who was struck on a bridge and obtained a settlement of over $6,200,000.  In another case, Mike represented the family of a young woman that was killed when the underride bar of an 18-wheeler failed.  Mike obtained a settlement of $3,900,000 against the two companies responsible.  Mike recovered $2,500,000 for the family of a man who was shot after a business dispute at a restaurant.  Mike represented the family of a highway worker that was killed by a drunk driver.  He obtained a $1,200,000 settlement against the drunk driver and obtained a confidential settlement against the bar owner on a dram shop claim for overserving the drunk driver.  In yet another case, Mike represented a driver of a vehicle that was struck head on by a drunk driver and that case settled for $1,219,000.  In another case, Mike recovered $1,000,000 for a driver who was struck by an 18 wheeler.  In another case, Mike represented the family of a mother that was killed by an out of control trash truck and that case was resolved for the policy limits of $939,924.  In another case, Mike represented the family of a man who was being transported to a hospital in an ambulance that broke down enroute and that case settled for $915,000.  In another case, Mike represented the driver of a motor scooter that was struck by a Domino’s delivery driver.  Mike obtained $875,000 for the driver of the motor scooter.  In another case, Mike represented the parent of a teenager that was killed in a drag racing incident on a well-traveled road in St. Louis County.  That case settled for a confidential seven figure sum. 

In addition to his full-time duties as a personal injury attorney, Mike has worked as the Brentwood Prosecuting Attorney for 25 years and has worked as the Village of Marlborough Prosecuting Attorney for 8 years.  Mike is admitted practice law in the State of Missouri and is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney, indicating the highest level of legal ability and ethics, which is received by less than 10% of practicing attorneys.  In 2018, Mike was named as a Missouri Super Lawyer which represents the top 5% of practicing lawyers in the State of Missouri, as determined by other lawyers in Missouri.

Mike lives in St. Louis with his wife and two sons.
