John S. Berry Jr. has been advocating for the rights of Omaha, Nebraska, residents from the law firm Berry Law: Criminal Defense and Personal Injury Lawyers since 2003. As the name of his firm indicates, he represents clients facing criminal charges and catastrophic injuries through no fault of their own. He handles sex crimes, intestate drug matters, white collar crimes, Title IX Defense for students and faculty, military law, veterans disability appeals and catastrophic injuries.
A 1997 Bachelor of Arts graduate of the College of William & Mary in Virginia, Mr. Berry received his Juris Doctor cum laude from the Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2003. He also honed his criminal trial skills at the National Criminal Defense College and the Trial Lawyers College. He is licensed to practice in Nebraska, Iowa, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Mr. Berry was once a tough infantry officer in the United States Army. He even completed Airborne School and Ranger School, proving his mettle. In 1999, he was deployed to Bosnia for Operation Joint Forge with the First Cavalry Division. He also served as a Company Commander in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005. After over 20 years of service in the active U.S. Army and the National Guard, he retired as a Battalion Commander, having held three commands. Clearly, his military career was nothing short of legendary.
