He earned his Bachelor of Arts in business and accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, before attending the University of Idaho College of Law, where he received recognition for his academic achievements in various legal disciplines.
Following his graduation with a Juris Doctor in 1989, Mr. Leavitt began building a diverse practice that encompasses numerous legal areas. While family law and divorce cases form the cornerstone of his practice, he also handles matters involving business law, personal injury claims, guardianship issues, grandparent rights, real estate disputes, landlord-tenant conflicts, criminal defense and elder abuse cases. His comprehensive approach allows him to address the often interconnected legal challenges his clients face.
Throughout his career, Mr. Leavitt has represented prominent Las Vegas establishments, including the Hilton, MGM, Golden Nugget and several other major casinos. His advocacy skills have taken him to the Nevada Supreme Court multiple times, where he has successfully argued cases at the highest judicial level in the state. In recognition of his professional standing, he received and accepted an invitation to serve as a pro tempore judge in 2012.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Leavitt demonstrates a profound commitment to community service. He has devoted thousands of hours to pro bono legal representation, coached youth sports teams, supported the Boy Scouts of America and mentored law students at the William S. Boyd School of Law.
